Dr. Wanda Boone headshotDr. Wanda Boone has been married to her husband Earl for 49 years. They have 3 children and 3 grandchildren. Dr. Boone’s career in prevention spans over 30 years. She founded Together for Resilient Youth (TRY) in 2003. TRY has received local, State and National recognition. Dr. Boone is a member of the Collaborative for Effective Prevention Opioid Policies, the NC ACEs Advisory Board, NC Institutes of Medicine, Co-Chair NC Child Resilience Social and Economic Factors work group. Co-Chair of the Durham County Substance Use Task Force, Durham County ACE’s Resilience Task Force and Health and Safety Chair, Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People. Dr. Boone is a guest speaker and technical advisor on all things related to the Strategic Prevention Framework, Trauma, Resilience and Disparities. TRY connects the dots using the public health model, environmental strategies and data to guide prevention strategies. She has earned the title Social Justice Warrior.
